‘Cafe Church’ Service in the Upper Room at 10.30 am. Cafe Church was normally held every 3 months. Please note that, due to the Covid 19 pandemic and lack of a Minister, Cafe Church services have been suspended until further notice.
What is "Cafe Church"?
This is a Service with a difference, where we can have a cup of coffee and a biscuit before and during the service. We sit at tables, as in a cafe, rather than in the formal pews of the Church sanctuary. We have our hymns and prayers as in any other Service.
Why a "Cafe Church"?
Well, an essential part of any Christian worship is fellowship and having a service where we join with each other around a table and have a coffee gives us an opportunity to share in fellowship that is both enjoyable and 'good for the soul'. This is a Service for everyone, those with a Faith and those who may have no faith at all - ALL ARE WELCOME.
Who leads in the 'Cafe Church'?
We have had a wide spectrum of 'leaders , ranging from our own Interim Moderator to Ministers of local churches and on occasion our own Elders have led the worship. On one very memorable occasion we had a certain Steve Amos leading our worship. Steve gave us a powerful testimony of God's ability to turn around even the most desperate of lives. Going from being a violent drug addict, prisoner and violent thief, to a bike-riding God-filled evangelist. Steve was miraculously taken from the pit of hell when a near-death experience convinced him that God was real. A powerful testimony indeed. In his book, "From the Pit of Hell" Steve tells his story in graphic, honest and uncompromising detail.
Although our Cafe Church is warm and friendly and inviting it is nevertheless a Service where a powerful message of God's power to redeem even those, like Steve, who need rescuing from their own 'pit of hell'.
